Announcement: Conference postponed due to COVID-19

March 11, 2019

We regretfully announce the postponement of the Francophone Northwest History conference planned for June 17-21, 2020 at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA.

Although the conference is still three months off, the events of the last few days and weeks dictate our decision, and it is our hope that by making the choice in a timely manner we will help prevent even greater risk and disruption.

One of the motivations for holding this conference is the importance of sharing and preserving oral histories. It goes against that purpose to put our family historians at risk.

Please stay in touch, as we will with you, and take care of yourselves. If you have already registered, we’ll be figuring out reimbursements in the coming weeks, but we also ask for your patience. Whitman College has just made the decision to switch to distance learning for the rest of the semester, and it will be a few weeks before we can turn our attention to other questions.

It’s been my pleasure getting to know many of you through this process, and I still look forward to meeting you in person–another day.
